Data Export: Plotting Data

Once you’ve either emailed your logs to yourself or synched them onto your Desktop machine (see previous Tutorials), you probably want to look at something other than raw numbers.  You can manipulate and crunch the data using programs such as MicroSoft Excel, OpenOffice or NeoOffice.  These are really handy for folks that want to really sift, sort and “what if” the logs.

However, there are times where it’s just handy to see a quick visual of what the log contains and this tutorial shows you a very neat Open Source freeware program called DATPLOT that is simple to use, yet surprisingly powerful and flexible.
